 We want your BOX TOPS!

We accept BOT TOPS all school year long.  Drop them in the Box Tops barrel located in the hallway near the office.

You can use the collection sheets at  www.boxtops4education.com or put them in a baggie or envelope or drop them in individually.

Each one is worth 10cents for our school and they add up fast.

Thanks for your support!

Uniform Donations

MacArthur is in need of gently used School Uniform pcs to be used when students are in need of a change of clothing at school.

Please keep this in mind as you go through your childrens clothes throughout the summer.

Mostly smaller sizes, (sizes 8 and under) but we appreciate clothing donations of any size. Items include shirts, slacks, shorts, skirts, underwear and socks.

MacArthur Eagles – “Soaring to Success”

2017 - 2018 SCHOOL YEAR

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

                                                                                                                Leo Buscaglia

Dear MacArthur Families,

As we begin our new school year, I feel compelled to share this quote from an author named Leo Buscaglia. Any “new year” brings with it opportunities to build and nurture positive caring relationships with one another and bring about change. When we care about one another and open ourselves to the impact we can have on others, we do have the power to turn lives around and watch individuals grow. We can serve as agents of positive change through caring.  We, the staff at MacArthur are committed to growing positive relationships with parents and students in an effort to continuously improve our community.

As you and your children enter MacArthur for the new school year, we have some wonderful news to share as we continue to grow as a school community. MacArthur was recognized in an article published by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for our work around Social Emotional Factors that affect student achievement. More specifically, emphasizing “Growth Mindset.” The article is titled, A School Community Champions Growth Mindset.

Interestingly, this community based focus on “Growth Mindset” has also improved our students perceptions of themselves related to self-management, social awareness, and self-efficacy. For each of the aforementioned attributes, MacArthur ranks in the 99th percentile of schools in the areas of Social Emotional Learning.

Our students, in turn, have continued to show gains in academics. Last year, MacArthur demonstrated the top overall gains in students meeting or exceeding the standards in mathematics increasing 13.8% and second overall gains in English Language Arts with an increase of 13%. This past year, we continued to demonstrate growth with gains of 8.3% in English Language Arts and 3.4% gains in mathematics.

Last year, working in collaboration with our wonderful PTA, our MacArthur school community set a goal to “grow” our PTA. PTA, not coincidently, adopted a theme for the year “Grow with Us.” Our MacArthur PTA met the goal growing PTA memberships achieving 54.4% growth and finishing the year with a membership rate of 106.4%. Congratulations!!!

Each of our family members played a pivotal role in this growth as a community; our students, teachers, parents, support staff, and school partners. No one person is responsible. As the old adage says, “It takes a community.” Congratulations MacArthur!!!

In addition, please do not stop in the middle of the street and allow your student to run across.

In the best safety interest of all our students, please safely drop off your child at one of the following:

  •  In front of MacArthur on Centralia
  • Gate on Henry Lee
  • Please note, the gate on Gondar is temporarily not available
